On 12th August 2023, her family calebrated the 100th Birth Anniversary of Late Smt. Sanjeevi Bhat. On this occasion, as a gesture of tribute to her and to celebrate her life, a fundraiser was launched by the family to support the Childhood Cancer Patients, being treated under the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, which mainly caters to the treatment of under-privileged children.
About the Cause
According to WHO Each year, an estimated 4,00,000+children and adolescents of 0-19 years old develop cancer. The most common types of childhood cancers include leukemia, brain cancers, lymphomas and solid tumors, such as neuroblastoma and Wilms tumors. Most childhood cancers can be cured with timely detection and treatment. The cure rates of these cancers have improved from less than 10% survival in 1960’s to > 80% survival in the present age.
Every year 250+ children are provided treatment in The Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal which mainly caters to the treatment of under privileged children.
The treatment cost of cancer is significant and is a major concern for the underprivileged. The fundraiser helped funds for the treatment of children suffering from childhood cancer.
All contributions will be utilized for the treatment of the underprivileged children whose treatment cost is not covered under any government schemes and have no other means of financial support.
